Earthen Jar Oven Roast Chicken 甕窯雞

This is the best roasted chicken we have tasted. The chicken is roasted to perfection and marinated with garlic and other spices. The texture of the chicken meat just melts in your mouth with an aromatic flavour.

Ever since the last visit, we have been back couple of times when we are doing round island trip. This is a definitely a must stop over for us.

The chicken roasted in the earthen jar oven have gauges on them so the cook can maintain the right roast. I understood that the chicken are between 130 to 150 days old and must be around 1.5kg.


The chicken are roasted vertically so that the juices and fats will follow down the metal plate below and create a smoky flavour

Unlike other roast, the chicken is roasted using only Lychee and Longan wood to create a distinctive smoky flavour. They do a 2 steps roast, first on the high temperature then transfer to another oven with lower temperature. 


Look at the color of the chicken!! How can one denied that this is not a perfect roast. If you do not like chicken breast meat, just try dipping into the flavoured sauce from the roast and it might just change your mind.

If you are heading up to Alishan, you might like to stop over and try this. It's located just after highway 3 towards AliShan.
They will be opening another joint in Taichung soon. What about Kaohsiung???



 Bamboo Shoot Soup....drink as much as you want




Hm.....not as good as JiaoXi but still acceptable
