Steripen Traveler Handheld UV Water Purifier

Just saw on the News about fresh water from Fresh Water Station. The News team had tested 3 different stations and after laboratory test, they found in the water there were high dosage of 大腸桿菌 Escherichia coli is a gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium that is commonly found in the lower intestine of warm-blooded organisms in all 3 Fresh Water Stations. All other test results were good except this.

Came to my mind we had a Steripen and never had the chance to use it. Since we have been topping up fresh drinking water from such station during camping trips, in future we would have to use the Steripen Handheld UV Water Purifier to purify the water. Not that we are born loser but lab test had already proven, we will never know which Fresh Water Station is good. So better be safe than sorry.

The Steripen rans on 4 AA batteries and they recommended to use either Lithium or NiMH batteries. According to Maker, using these batteries it will yield 200 times usage on half a litre of water and they do not recommend Alkaline batteries.

Using it was rather simple, press the button once for half litre water and twice for one litre water. Water must be clear before using it, wait for the Red indicator to go off and Green indicator lighted and water is safe to drink. The rest of the instruction is just on the indicator which tells about battery or sensor is wet and so on.
